Web Conference Reflection Weeks 1, 3, 5

Web Conference Reflections

Week 1

This week's reflection focused on class expectations and assignments.  Video tools and websites were provided to gather story ideas for various types of tools to use for the digital story.   We were also required to complete the discussion board and exchange scripts with someone on the class for feedback.

We also discussed Creative Common licenses and how to license artifacts for our final movie. We should explore free open source software for our movie.   Select video tools that we have not used previously and post the final link to Blackboard, eportfolio of our choice and a free online public site, such as YouTube or TeacherTube.

Finally, review the PowerPoint for the leading Video and take the quiz.  If there are any questions or concerns, the first point of contact is the IA.  Due to the holiday, this week's assignment is due by June 6, midnight.  All other assignments will be due on Sunday by midnight.

Week 3

Information on Creative Commons was provided.  Creative Commons allows you to share your photographs, but not allow companies to sell.  Licenses are not an alternative to copyright.

Groups should be formed by now.

Audacity-Week 2 Reflections

Audacity- Week 2 Reflections

During the week 2 assignment, I learned and used technology tools that were newly introduced to me.  I had not heard of or used Audacity prior to this course.  After exploring and watching many tutorial videos about Audacity, I found my comfort level and was able to successfully record my podcast.

After recording, I was challenged once again.  This time it was challenging for me to upload the podcast to YouTube.  Again, I searched the internet and found a video that taught me how to upload an audio file to YouTube.  I successfully completed this task as well.

This week was a challenge once again.  I am spending quite a bit of time trying to acquire a deeper understanding of the technology tools.  However, I am learning more each week and I am beginning to develop some sort of comfort with the use of technology.  I did not realize how much technology I did not know about, until this course.  This course is helping me in my development of technology skills, and I will be able to share the technology tools with others on my campus.

Personal Digital Story Reflection

Week 1 assignment assisted me with honing skills relevant to the implementation of technology in education.  Some standards specifically were, c.1 a-b and c.2 a-b.   For example, the digital story required me to identify, create and use various formats such as video and audio files to create my personal experiences to tell a story.  In addition to the creation of a video, I was required to work collaboratively with others to provide and receive feedback on the story script.  This feedback encouraged us to alter our scripts with suggestions mentioned, if needed.

In addition, I created a learning network through the use of a blog. This was my first time creating a blog and it was a bit challenging at first.  However, I worked through it and here it is.  I can say this is a very helpful tool to utilize when communicating and networking both locally and globally.  Currently, a weekly blog is sent out by my campus principal.  The blog is very helpful with keeping staff informed of current and upcoming information or events.  As a future principal, I plan to implement this practice as well.  Now that I have some experience in it, I feel a bit more comfortable with blogging.
